Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the Self-Advocacy Board of Los Angeles County (SABLAC)!

We welcome individuals who are passionate about advocacy, leadership, and building a stronger, more inclusive future.

Membership is open to individuals with developmental or physical disabilities who support the self-advocacy movement.

How to Become a SABLAC Member

To become an official SABLAC member, please complete the following steps:

    1. Attend Four (4) Meetings
      • You must attend four SABLAC meetings within four months.
      • At least two of the four must be formal SABLAC meetings.
      • Trainings and SABLAC/SCDD joint project meetings can also count toward your attendance.
    2. Live in Los Angeles County
      • All members must reside in Los Angeles County.
    3. Show Commitment to Advocacy
      • Members should have a strong interest in self-advocacy and improving services for people with disabilities.
    4. Maintain Active Participation
      • Members are encouraged to attend meetings regularly, contribute ideas, and help build a respectful, inclusive community.

Additional Member Responsibilities

  • ➔ Understand and follow SABLAC’s bylaws and ground rules.
  • ➔ Notify the President or Vice President if you cannot attend a meeting.
  • ➔ Help create a supportive space where every voice is respected and heard.

Our meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM via Zoom.
